Neighbor’s Dark Riddle is the mobile adaption of ‘Hello Neighbor’, a decent slight horror escape puzzle game developed by Vitalii Pogosskyi. The storyline is quite interesting while it encourages a sense of fear and insecurity in a distinguished puzzle escape adventure. Neighbors can sometimes be mysterious and create problems. In this game you have to face an unusual neighbor, whose home is filled with deep secrets. You must get inside his house unnoticed, passing all the traps and video cameras, and reveal the truth behind his spooky attitude. The game wants you to do two things: The first is the head-to-head chase against the evil AI character in a likewise game of cat and mouse; The second is that it wants you to solve certain puzzles in the provided environments. The combination of these two game design ideas creates a very exciting scenario.
The main character in this interactive thriller is yourself, due to the realistic camera from the first person. By moving to a new home, you’ll discover some strange things in the behavior of your lonesome neighbor from the house opposite. He never leaves his home. And one dark night he drags out of his house a bag with something suggestive of the human body. It becomes clear that something terrible is happening and you can’t keep distance anymore. You must get into the neighbor’s house and find out what’s going on. And that won’t be easy at all. Each corner of his yard is supervised with a video camera while all the doors and windows are locked. Besides, the neighbor himself is a rather dangerous person who stops at nothing. The Neighbor will chase you, smack you and strangle you as soon as he reaches you running, making the level restart with your progress and items saved. He’s hard to deal with as he inevitably hears every little noise you cause. He’ll come after you running and catch you forcing to start the level over again. Just before you getting used with the gameplay he’ll manage to catch you several times and you won’t be able to leave his house alive (suggestively speaking). But no need to worry because you can try as many times as you want and all your progress will be automatically saved each time.
The core of the game is puzzle solving combined with hide and seek. It’s a game about breaking into your neighbor’s basement in order to find out his dark secret. There are also different methods of getting in his house such as breaking a window or getting on the roof. You’ll stack boxes to break into the second story of the house, get the trunk key, open the trunk to get a magnet, use the magnet to steal the lockpick, use the lockpick to open the door, and get a wrench from the newly opened door to climb a giant ladder that happens to lead to the exact room where the basement key is located. These are all part of this fantastic game from which you surely won’t give up easily.
Tips before starting out:
- Find and use useful items. Find a flashlight, pimples, keys, gas cans and the like. All these stuff will be very useful for you in the neighbor’s house
- Constantly look for the neighbor’s current position as he may be already waiting for you anywhere.
- In a critical situation, you can try to escape in your own home. The neighbor won’t be able to get through in there.
- Your goal is the basement of the neighbor’s house. There lies the key to unravel all the terrible secrets.
