When was the last time we provided you with some valuable information about a game that was first released 5 years ago. Well to be honest this has actually never happened, at least so far. This is the first time we’ll be giving you some inner inspection of Two Dots, a game that has been around for quite some time and is overly loved by millions of players. The app so far has won several rattling awards such as “The best game on handheld devices for the 2015 Webby Awards” and on ‘2018 Webby Awards’ was nominated for “Best Visual Design”, while it also won ‘People’s Voice Award for Puzzle’. The game is developed by Playdots, Inc. and since its release stands out as a great puzzler with no other competitor on its kind.
In Two Dots everything starts connecting eventually. At the start of the game, only the first level will be unlocked while the following one unlocks only when the previous level is beaten. The levels are sorted into worlds, where the first 10 levels are assigned into one world and then every 25 levels are grouped together. The worlds change from one-another due to their gameplay elements, obstacles as well as objectives. Generally you’ll be given the task of completing a specified number of targets in a certain number of moves. The game also features a weekly “Treasure Hunt” mode, where players compete worldwide to complete a sequence of seven levels. At the beginning of a level several dots will be “dropped” from the top of your screen. The player must connect at least two dots of the same color in order to make a move. The dots can either be connected horizontally or vertically, except diagonally; They can never can be connected diagonally with each-other. The connected dots will be automatically removed from the game screen and new ones will drop down from above. When the player connects a group of at least four same-colored dots or bigger, even the other dots from of that same color will also disappear.
While it was praised for its simple design and a variety of obstacles and level layouts, Two Dots is criticized by many reviewers for its slow life-regenerating system which takes up to 20 minutes for a single life to regenerate. With a total of one hour and forty minutes needed to bring the maximum of five lives, players often find themselves forced to make an in-app purchase as some levels are almost impossible to beat. But nevertheless Two Dots features an amazing gameplay where you travel through gorgeous worlds, collect nice collectibles and uncover funny new mechanics while on your journey. As of Jan 19’ there are currently a total of 1860 levels which you must solve by connecting dots and more. Two Dots is mentally challenging and largely engaging.
