Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice – Part 17: Guardian Ape & Headless
Before you go ahead and take care of the next Boss, we highly recommend doing some upgrades just because this fight is without question the hardest fight so far. This guy is a pretty hard stopgap for a lot of people. Once again, go get some rice.
The Guardian Ape is a two-phase fight. The first phase is all about deflecting, hitting, damaging. You can use either fireworks or flame vent because they’re both effective here.
In the second phase of the fight, the same things apply. You can use Flame Vent again, but it will not have the same effect as before. Every time you see him move his head towards his neck, back off. This is more like a deflect challenge.
It may take you a lot of time before taking this one out, but do not give up. Once he’s dead, go underwater and get the Precious Bait. Now, up ahead you have a key item. Right past the idol, is the White Lotus.
Once you grab this Lotus you’ll be moving towards the end of the game. The castle is going to get taken over. It will be filled with enemies. So, if you want to do anything in the castle i.e visit Emma or get an update to your Gourd or whatever the case is, do it before you grab this Lotus.
Once you grab the Lotus there is no going back.
In our case, we’re going to take out a couple of other things real quick. First, go to Ashina Castle – Old Grave and pay a visit to the Headless over there. This Headless is underwater and very easy to fight.
Finish him and you’ll be awarded with Ungo’s Spiritfall and a Heavy Coin Purse. After grabbing all the items around, travel to the Last Communed Idol and from there to the Dilapidated Temple. One thing that will make the next fights way easier is upgrading the umbrella which shuts down all damage that is considered ethereal.
Now, travel to the Hidden Forest and get ready to fight Headless.
I agree he’s very annoying. Anyway, once he’s done go to the Last Communed Idol and from there to Sunken Valley – Under Shrine Valley. Get underwater and find the path to another Headless.
To the Last Communed Idol again. With this one down it’s time for another optional boss.
Travel to Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo. Jump down, fight the rat enemy and turn him into a puppet. He will take care of the kite for you.
Now, go to Shugendo using the idol or by running. That’s up to you. Find the snake and hit him right in the head.
You just killed a God.
Get the remaining items of the area and then travel to Riven Cave.
